Photography by Mike Mander - 2007 / Nikon D3: A Rainy Night

A rainy autumn night with the Nikon rep., shooting Vancouver with a Nikon D3. All shots hand-held, from ISO 3200 to 12800 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 VR, the new 14-24mm f/2.8 or a 50mm f/1.4. Note that the D3 had pre-production firmware and image quality may not be representative of the final shipping version. When you click on an image, you will see the set ISO beside the filename. Images processed in Lightroom v2 with Luminance NR at zero and Chroma NR at the default of 25. The D3 is the first of a new generation of digital SLR that can shoot clean files at extremely high ISO settings. Previously, one would have needed a tripod for this sort of night photography!
