These are some test shots taken with the new Sigma 8-16mm ultra-wide zoom. I only had the lens for 10 minutes of testing unfortunately. Clicking an image will bring up a larger view with EXIF metadata as well as a button to open a large 3000 pixel tall image in a separate window. Automatic lens corrections in Lightroom v3.2 were left turned on.
Images 2-6 are shot from the same spot at differing focal lengths between 8 and 16mm.
On image 7, the leaves are very nearly over my head. Image 7 had its focus locked on the centre, the top of the building. Subsequent frames 8 through 11 show the same portion of the building placed in the four corners of the FOV, without refocusing, to show differences in centre to corner sharpness. The lens performed quite well here.
Image 13 was taken only a few feet from the front of the yellow truck.
Images 14 through 18, shot at 8mm, show the lens flare spot at various apertures, from wide open at f/4.5 to f/16. Frame 19 shows the flare spot changing its shape and colour, this shot being at 11mm and f/9.0.
