The Beau Photo staff Christmas outing was spent wandering around in sub-zero temperatures at the beautiful Van Dusen Botanical Gardens. Every year in December, the gardens are decked out with what must be tens of thousands of coloured lights… maybe even hundreds of thousands. Candy canes, mock gingerbread houses and gingerbread men, as well as many whimsical little coloured mushrooms sprout everywhere. Old plastic bottles are recycled by cutting them into tulip shapes and mounting them on lights too. It is quite a festive spectacle!
All these photos were taken handheld with either my Fujifiulm X100 or my Panasonic GH2 with the Olympus 12mm f/2 or the Panasonic (Leica) 25mm f/1.4.
