No, I didn't forget a few days in my sequence of galleries. On days 8 and 9 of my trip, I took no photos. We prepared for the long drive to the northern tip of Germany and then during the drive, it was mostly autobahn and poor weather, so no chance for photos. On the way to Föhr, we stayed overnight in the tiny town of Bolzum, where we at this wonderful little inn (photos 1-4) that was pretty much empty, except for us. The first photo shows the lovely view we had from the breakfast room. Then came the overcast ferry ride to the Island of Föhr. The ocean is so shallow that the ferry has to precisely run along a dug out channel, demarked by buoys, sticks and twigs stuck in the sand (photo 10). It was a little disconcerting to see us sailing past sand bars as close as 10 meters to the ferry at times. When the tide is at its lowest, you can actually walk between some of these small North Sea islands! Unfortunately, I forgot to turn on my GPS tracker a few times so some images in this gallery are not geotagged.
The quaint little Island of Föhr is a wonderfully relaxed place, with only a few small towns, narrow streets and many wonderful old brick buildings with thickly thatched roofs. It was incredibly photogenic there! On the first morning, I spent some time wandering around the town of Oldsum, where my aunt lives and where we stayed while visiting. Later in the day we took a trip to one of the many beaches encircling the island and it was surprsingly empty with very few people around. After that was a trip to the largest city on the Island, Wyk, where we wandered around, enjoying the little shops and finishing off with a superb seafood dinner. Afterwards, we went to another beach for sunset and then headed back to Oldsum. I was surprised to see so many jellyfish stranded on the beach, many of which were quite a deep blue colour.
