The first 20 shots are were taken up in my aunt's attic, where my father and Franziska slept while we stayed with her. As far as I know, all the sculptures and drawings are artwork that my aunt, Ruth Fuchs (photo 11), had fashioned. Many interesting pieces, some bizarre and a few that some might find a little disturbing too. My ultra-wide-angle lens helped to get the overall feel for the cozy loft, albeit with some unavoidable distortion.
My uncle, Heiner Fuchs (my mother's brother) passed away back in 1976 in a tragic car accident, and we visited his grave (photos 21-23). As I recall, my aunt Ruth was involved not only in writing the calligraphy shown in photo 24, inside the small church adjacent to the cemetary, but perhaps in making the display piece with the sculptures of saints seen in the upper part of the photo as well. The antiquated donation box in the church, seen in photo 25, had some impressively massive and ancient looking locks on it! The ferry back to mainland Germany had an interesting viewing deck with hardwood floors and a nice view forward. Too bad the weather was dodgy once again...
