On the last day in Germany, we visited some old friends of my mother's. Gunter (photo 24) was an avid photographer and has been collecting vintage cameras for a long time. When they found out we were coming for a visit, he temporarily brought his collection home from his summer cottage, just so I could see them all. An amazing camera was the one in photos 20-21, a single lens reflex large format camera, a 4x5 I believe. Now that was a big mirror! The Voigtlander in photos 12-14 was interesting too. When opened up, the big plunger sticking up was pushed in to advance the film. Photos 22-24 were when we all went for lunch. Gunter also showed me a book with pre-WW II street photography, taken in Frankfurt by Paul Wolff. It was interesting to see how Frankfurt looked before the massive bombing it underwent in WW II. The last shot was from later in the evening, a get-together which had many members of the Mander family in it, including yours truly…
