Shot from the Burrard Street Bridge with a Nikon D800. I am impressed with its ability to capture colour detail with minimal blow-out on the bright fireworks, yet have plenty of clean recoverable shadow detail to show the fading blue sky and the people lining the beach.
Due to the way I photograph fireworks, my exposure times varied dramatically in order to build up images with more or fewer bursts, but the D800 has so much exposure latitude that I was able to more or less equalize the shots for ambient light to avoid distracting variations in background brightness. The last image was a 3.5 minute exposure and some star trails are obvious as well.
