These are my first test shots after receiving the new Fujifilm XF 90mm f/2R LM WR lens. This lens is already extremely sharp wide open and has nice smooth bokeh, as the first two portrait shots will demostrate. It also exhibits virtually no highlight fringing, even wide open, has no chromatic aberration, and also negligable geometric distortion and vignetting. The build quality seems superb and its aperture ring is perfectly damped with crisp detents. Being a weather-resistant (WR) design seems to be icing on the cake. All in all, another exceptional prime lens from Fujifilm!
The only real complaint I can muster so far, is that its linear-motor (LM) focusing lens group seems fairly heavy and can literally slide and clunk, back and forth, when the lens is shaken with the camera's power off. There seems a fair bit of mass moving around inside. When powered up, this lens group floats and focuses with electromagnets, and seems held tightly in place with no play, rattle or clunk. Hopefully the "loose" focusing group, when powered down, won't cause any long term issues. Several other Fujifilm LM equipped lenses are similar, but most others seems to have a much smaller and lighter focusing group, so the clunk is far more subtle.
