A day after touring around Hanover, my father and I drove north a little way, in order to visit the quaint little town of Celle, with much of the old town core consisting of Fachwerkhäuser. While there were tourists there, it was interesting in that it felt more like a "regular" little town, seemingly with lots of locals, normal shops and stores that weren't all tourist traps, and lots of choices where to eat with many restuarants having outdoor seating. Good thing too, since it had been a very hot day!
Photo 7 shows something that happened all too often on this trip: construction! This was the famous Schloss Celle, mostly blocked from view by scaffolding and tarps... too bad. Photo 33 is a shot of a wonderful, quirky door with a slightly creepy carving and a "fish" doorknob...
