Photos 1-7 were taken from the top of Pine Mountain, where there is also an observatory run by the University of Oregon. The rest of the photos were taken near the Paulina Lakes, south of Bend, Oregon. There is a vast volcanic obsidian flow with huge chunks of volcanic glass covering the landscape.
GPS location data was recorded while hiking with an Apple Watch, and is displayed via Google Maps in a new browser window when you click the globe icon at the upper left corner of each thumbnail.
